POP-Ups! for 5 December 2011
Here is a list this week’s new DVD’s, music and movies along with a few comments to go along with some of the items!
DVDS – all available 12.6.11
- Hangover II – Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifinakis – Just like the first movie but this time it is set in Bangkok.
- Cowboys & Aliens – Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, and Harrison Ford – Harrison is neither Han Solo or Indiana Jones in this film…boring!
- The Help – Viola Davis and Emma Stone – I was not a fan of the book but the movie won me over…a little.
- Mr. Popper’s Penguins – Jim Carrey and Carla Gugino
- The Debt – Helen Mirren and Sam Worthington
- Amy Winehouse (Lioness: Hidden Treasures) – this is a piecemeal of Amy’s work from the past two years. Not nearly as strong as Back to Black but there are a few gems on this disc.
- Dia Frampton (Red) – the runner-up on last season’s The Voice, has released her debut album. With a concert tour with her mentor, Blake Shelton, this should be a solid effort from her.
- KORN (The Path of Totality) – I was not sure they were all still alive, much less still making music together!
- Robin Thicke (Love After War) – the titular single is really great leading me to wish and pray that the rest of the album is just as great!
- The Black Keys (El Camino) – I have a band crush on The Black Keys. I love what they have put out in the past and their performance on SNL (12.3.12) made me want to run to iTunes and download this offering.
- The Roots (Undun) – I love that this band is Jimmy Fallon’s house band and still continues to create great and provocative hip hop music. Download “Make My” and “Sleep”.
- New Year’s Eve – Halle Berry, Jessica Biel and Sarah Jessica Parker – the next in the series of Garry Marshall holiday films that feature several stars in several vignettes that sometimes cross story lines. Cheesy holiday goodness that I am looking forward to checking out.
- The Sitter – Jonah Hill and Sam Rockwell – it is odd seeing skinny Jonah doing press for this film. It is almost like he is showing clips of another guy. I don’t know what the movie is about, so that is all I’ve got!
