Floor of Someone Tongue Cancer,” A Killer Germinating In My Mouth” – treatment of tongue cancer
I can’t sleep.
My mind saunters with the things that are to come.
I was diagnosed a marry weeks ago with stage 3 tongue cancer. The width of my tongue cancer is size 2, as far as oral cancer travels it is pretty small.
They are announcing it a stage 3 because it has spread into one lymph gland so far. I had that gland removed and that’s when they found the carcinoma.
Mouth cancer, oral cancer, esophageal cancer and thyroid cancer are all gunmen if left rampant for to long. Due to the spot they are extremely hard to operate on and the
tissue they are growing in is very delicate.( oh yea, and very necessary !)
What’s in store for me now is very difficult for me to comprehend.
I will be coming 7 weeks of radiation therapy Monday-Friday, each morning.
I will get chemotherapy once a week but it will be in such a low-pitched dosage that I will not loose my hair.
Do to the location of my tongue cancer which is at the base of the tongue( can not be seen without bent reflects or a scope) radiation is no other course of action.
Tongue cancer is a extremely invasive cancer. It downs the muscle and material. It doesn’t merely flourish on top of the tissue it depletes the tissue. It is called squamous cell carcinoma.
Here is a explanation of squamous cell from http :// www.medterms.com;
Definition of Squamous cells
Squamous cadres: Flat cells that look like fish flakes. The text “squamous” came from the Latin squama meaning” the scale of a fish or serpent .”
We have a lot of squamous cells. They make up the majority of members of the cells in the outer layer of the surface( the epidermis ), the channels of the respiratory and digestive treatises, and the liners of the hollow organs of the body. We are more fish- like( or serpent-like) than we may think.( extremity)
Because of its invasive sort tongue cancer depletes important muscle mass at the back of the tongue. Through radiation therapy they will be killing the tissue that is infected with the carcinoma, thus killing half of the muscles on the back of my tongue.
The doctors tell me that after 6-8 months I should be able to swallow awfully soft menus and liquid.
But as for dining until then, in a few days from now I am get a feeding tube inserted into my stomach. I will be gobbling adult formula through a tube for the next 6 months.
The radiation will be killing my thyroid gland, I will have to take medicine every day for it for the rest of my life.
The radiation exposure while killing the bad materials will too be killing a lot of good tissues.
The process will be similar to a second degree sunburn every morning 5 days a week for 7 weeks.
My cancer physicians tell me that I will liberate all the skin on the outside of my neck where the radioactivity beams are converged often like a sunbathe blaze that will blister up every day with each new treatment.
Therefore compelling a large fresh meat place on my cervix that I will have to keep a heavy blanket of lotion on.
At some pitch in the next couple weeks I will be going a subcutaneous embed for a morphine drip.
The tissues inside the throat area and back of the tongue is likely to be fresh equivalent to that given to numerous sun blazes as well.
They said some people have to have a tracheotomy because their throat tissue swells to the top where they are unable no longer breath properly.
This all sounds gruesome and I am sure that it will be extremely agonizing and very close to intolerable.
However the alternative is no therapy which will ensure demise within 6-10 months.
So I envision I can take the ache, my doctors predicted they are able to retain me “snowed” for as long as needed so that I can end this care.( my announces may get slurred !)
As this tongue cancer process develops I shall be posting almost daily with my change, estimates, experiences and medical evaluations.
I am not doing this blog for your pity.
I am documenting this horrible jaunt so that maybe some of the readers will come to this understanding……I smoked cigarettes for 25 times, I chewed a little tobacco, I drank my fair share of booze, all of these are directly related to cavity cancer, tongue cancer, oral cancer,
esophageal cancer and thyroid cancer.
Maybe, precisely perhaps, a few people will read and follow along with me on this jaunt and stop smoking, chewing, drinking excessively and clean up “peoples lives” so they will not have to
go through this.
The journey embarks ………..
