Tale of Someone Tongue Cancer,” A Killer Flourishing In My Mouth” – surgery for tongue cancer
I can’t sleep.
My mind strolls with the things that are to come.
I was diagnosed a marry weeks ago with stage 3 tongue cancer. The size of my tongue cancer is immensity 2, as far as oral cancer becomes it is pretty small.
They are announcing it a stage 3 because it has spread into one lymph gland so far. I had that gland removed and that’s when they found the carcinoma.
Mouth cancer, oral cancer, esophageal cancer and thyroid cancer are all gunmen if left unchecked for to long. Due to the place they are extremely hard to operate on and the
tissue they are growing in is very delicate.( oh yea, and very necessary !)
What’s in store for me now is very difficult for me to comprehend.
I will be coming 7 weeks of radiation therapy Monday-Friday, each morning.
I will get chemotherapy once a few weeks but it will be in such a low dosage that I will not loose my hair.
Do to the location of my tongue cancer which is at the base of the tongue( can not be seen without bent reflects or a scope) radiation is the only course of action.
Tongue cancer is a awfully invasive cancer. It expends the muscle and material. It doesn’t merely proliferate on top of the tissue it spends the tissue. It is called squamous cell carcinoma.
Here is a explanation of squamous cadre from http :// www.medterms.com;
Definition of Squamous cells
Squamous cadres: Flat cells that look like fish magnitudes. The statement “squamous” came from the Latin squama meaning” the scale of a fish or serpent .”
We have a lot of squamous cadres. They make up the majority of members of the cells in the outer seam of the bark( the epidermis ), the moves of the respiratory and digestive treatises, and the linings of the hollow organs of their own bodies. We are more fish- like( or serpent-like) than we may think.( result)
Because of its invasive quality tongue cancer destroys important muscle mass at the back of the tongue. Through radiation therapy this is gonna be killing the material that is infected with the carcinoma, thus killing half of the muscles on the back of my tongue.
The doctors tell me that after 6-8 months I should be able to swallow exceedingly soft meat and liquid.
But as for dining until then, in a few days from now I am get a feeding tube inserted into my gut. I will be ingesting adult formula through a tube for the next 6 months.
The radiation will be killing my thyroid gland, I will have to take medicine every day for it for the rest of my life.
The radiation exposure while killing the bad tissues will likewise be killing a lot of good tissues.
The process will be similar to a second degree sunburn every morning five days a week for 7 weeks.
My cancer physicians tell me that I will liberate all the skin on the outside of my cervix where the radiation beams are concentrated much like a sun flame that they are able to swell up every day with each new treatment.
Therefore beginning a large raw meat arena on my neck that I will have to keep a heavy blanket of cream on.
At some stage in the next duo weeks I will be going a subcutaneous embed for a morphine drip.
The tissues inside the throat area and back of the tongue is likely to be raw equivalent to that given to many sunshine burns as well.
They said some people have to have a tracheotomy because their throat material swells to the extent where they are unable no longer gulp properly.
This all sounds gruesome and I am sure that it will be extremely pain and closer to intolerable.
However the alternative is no management which will guarantee demise within 6-10 months.
So I think I can take the anguish, my doctors predicted they are able to restrain me “snowed” for as long as needed so that I can accomplish this medication.( my berths may get slurred !)
As this tongue cancer process develops I shall be announcing almost daily with my advance, estimations, thinks and medical evaluations.
I am not doing this blog for your pity.
I am substantiating this terrible travel so that maybe some of the readers will come to this understanding……I smoked cigarettes for 25 times, I chewed a little tobacco, I booze my fair share of alcohol, all of these are directly related to cheek cancer, tongue cancer, oral cancer,
esophageal cancer and thyroid cancer.
Maybe, simply maybe, a few people will read and follow together with me on this outing and quit smoking, chewing, boozing too and cleaning process “peoples lives” so they will not have to
go through this.
The journey begins ………..
