I can’t sleep.
My mind strolls with the things that are to come.
I was diagnosed a duo weeks ago with stage 3 tongue cancer. The immensity of my tongue cancer is sizing 2, as far as oral cancer disappears it is pretty small.
They are calling it a stage 3 because it has spread into one lymph gland so far. I had that gland removed and that’s when they found the carcinoma.
Mouth cancer, oral cancer, esophageal cancer and thyroid cancer are all assassins if left unchecked for to long. Due to the locating they are extremely hard to operate on and the
tissue they are growing in is very delicate.( oh yea, and very necessary !)
What’s in store for me now is very difficult for me to comprehend.
I will be going 7 weeks of radiation therapy Monday-Friday, each morning.
I will get chemotherapy once a few weeks but it will be in such a low quantity that I will not loose my hair.
Do to the location of my tongue cancer which is at the base of the tongue( can not be seen without bent reflects or a scope) radioactivity is no other course of action.
Tongue cancer is a very invasive cancer. It exhausts the muscle and tissue. It doesn’t exactly flourish on top of the material it expends the tissue. It is called squamous cell carcinoma.

Definition of Squamous cells
Squamous cells: Flat cells that look like fish proportions. The statement “squamous” came from the Latin squama meaning” the scale of a fish or serpent .”
We have a lot of squamous cells. They make up most of the cadres in the outer blanket of the bark( the epidermis ), the legislations of the respiratory and digestive pamphlets, and the liners of the hollow parts of their own bodies. We are more fish- like( or serpent-like) than we may think.( demise)
Because of its invasive nature tongue cancer spends important muscle mass at the back of the tongue. Through radiation therapy they will be killing the material that is infected with the carcinoma, thus killing half of the muscles on the back of my tongue.
The doctors been mentioned that after 6-8 months I should be able to swallow extremely soft menus and liquid.
But as for gobbling until then, in a few days from now I am coming a feeding tube inserted into my gut. I will be feeing adult formula through a tube for the next 6 months.
The radiation will be killing my thyroid gland, I will have to take medicine every day for it for the rest of my life.
The radiation exposure while killing the bad tissues will likewise be killing a lot of good tissues.
The process will be similar to a second degree sunburn every morning 5 days a week for 7 weeks.
My cancer doctors tell me that I will loose all the skin on the outside of my neck where the radioactivity beams are converged often like a sunbathe feeling that they are able to blister up every day with each new treatment.
Therefore effecting a large raw meat neighbourhood on my cervix that I will have to keep a heavy coating of cream on.
At some degree in the next marry weeks I will be get a subcutaneous embed for a morphine drip.
The tissues inside the throat area and back of the tongue will be raw equal to many sunshine feelings as well.
They said some people have to have a tracheotomy because their throat tissue swells to the spot where they are unable no longer wheeze properly.
This all sounds gruesome and I am sure that it will be extremely painful and very close to intolerable.
However the alternative is no care which will guarantee death within 6-10 months.
So I picture I can take the hurting, medical doctors promised they would impede me “snowed” for as long as needed so that I can end this medicine.( my posts may get slurred !)
As this tongue cancer process develops I shall be posting almost daily with my change, thoughts, finds and medical evaluations.
I am not doing this blog for your pity.
I am documenting this terrible tour so that maybe some of the books will come to this understanding……I smoked cigarettes for 25 times, I chewed a little tobacco, I imbibe my fair share of alcohol, all of these are directly related to mouth cancer, tongue cancer, oral cancer,
esophageal cancer and thyroid cancer.
Maybe, really perhaps, a few people will read and follow along with me on this travel and stop smoking, chewing, boozing excessively and clean up “peoples lives” so they will not have to
go through this.
The journey embarks ………..
