Narrative of Someone Tongue Cancer,” A Killer Thriving In My Mouth” – how to know if you have tongue cancer
I can’t sleep.
My mind strays with the things that are to come.
I was diagnosed a pair weeks ago with stage 3 tongue cancer. The size of my tongue cancer is sizing 2, as much as is oral cancer exits it is pretty small.
They are announcing it a stage 3 because it has spread into one lymph gland so far. I had that gland removed and that’s when they found the carcinoma.
Mouth cancer, oral cancer, esophageal cancer and thyroid cancer are all killers if left unchecked for to long. Due to the spot they are extremely hard to operate on and the
tissue they are growing in is very delicate.( oh yea, and very necessary !)
What’s in store for me now is very difficult for me to comprehend.
I will be going 7 weeks of radiation therapy Monday-Friday, each morning.
I will get chemotherapy once a few weeks but it will be in such a low-grade dosage that I will not loose my hair.
Do to the location of my tongue cancer which is at the base of the tongue( can not be seen without bent mirrors or a scope) radiation is no other course of action.
Tongue cancer is a terribly invasive cancer. It spends the muscle and tissue. It doesn’t really stretch on top of the material it destroys the tissue. It is called squamous cell carcinoma.
Here is a definition of squamous cadre from http :// www.medterms.com;
Definition of Squamous cells
Squamous cadres: Flat cells that look like fish scales. The word “squamous” came from the Latin squama meaning” the scale of a fish or serpent .”
We have a lot of squamous cadres. They make up the majority of members of the cells in the outer seam of the skin( the epidermis ), the excerpts of the respiratory and digestive pamphlets, and the liners of the hollow parts of the body. We are more fish- like( or serpent-like) than we may think.( aim)
Because of its invasive sort tongue cancer depletes important muscle mass at the back of the tongue. Through radiation therapy this is gonna be killing the material that is infected with the carcinoma, thus killing half of the muscles on the back of my tongue.
The doctors been mentioned that after 6-8 months I should be able to swallow extremely soft menus and liquid.
But as for snacking until then, in a few days from now I am going a feeding tube inserted into my belly. I will be ingesting adult formula through a tube for the next 6 months.
The radiation will be killing my thyroid gland, I will have to take medicine every day for it for the rest of my life.
The radiation exposure while killing the bad materials will also be killing a lot of good tissues.
The process will be similar to a second degree sunburn every morning five days a week for 7 weeks.
My cancer doctors tell me that I will release all the skin on the outside of my neck where the radioactivity beams are concentrated lots like a daylight sunburn that they are able to blister up every day with each new treatment.
Therefore compelling a large fresh meat locality on my cervix that I will have to keep a ponderous blanket of lotion on.
At some detail in the next pair weeks I will be coming a subcutaneous embed for a morphine drip.
The tissues inside the throat area and back of the tongue is likely to be raw equal to countless sunlight feelings as well.
They said some people have to have a tracheotomy because their throat material swells to the target where they are unable no longer breath properly.
This all sounds gruesome and I am sure that it will be extremely agonizing and very close to intolerable.
However the alternative is no care which will guarantee death within 6-10 months.
So I think I can take the tendernes, medical doctors promised they would remain me “snowed” for as long as needed so that I can end this therapy.( my posts may get slurred !)
As this tongue cancer process develops I shall be posting almost daily with my change, judges, moods and medical evaluations.
I am not doing this blog for your pity.
I am substantiating this terrible outing so that maybe some of the readers will come to this understanding……I smoked cigarettes for 25 times, I ruminated a little tobacco, I imbibe my fair share of booze, all of these are directly related to speak cancer, tongue cancer, oral cancer,
esophageal cancer and thyroid cancer.
Maybe, precisely maybe, a few people will read and follow along with me on this excursion and quit smoking, chewing, drinking overly and cleaning process “peoples lives” so they will not have to
go through this.
The journey embarks ………..
