Narration of Someone Tongue Cancer,” A Killer Changing In My Mouth” – cancer of tongue prognosis
I can’t sleep.
My mind gallivants with the things that are to come.
I was diagnosed a duo weeks ago with stage 3 tongue cancer. The width of my tongue cancer is width 2, as far as oral cancer croaks it is pretty small.
They are calling it a stage 3 because it has spread into one lymph gland so far. I had that gland removed and that’s when they found the carcinoma.
Mouth cancer, oral cancer, esophageal cancer and thyroid cancer are all assassins if left unchecked for to long. Due to the site they are extremely hard to operate on and the
tissue they are growing in is very delicate.( oh yea, and very necessary !)
What’s in store for me now is very difficult for me to comprehend.
I will be going 7 weeks of radiation therapy Monday-Friday, each morning.
I will get chemotherapy formerly a few weeks but it will be in such a low-grade dosage that I will not loose my hair.
Do to the location of my tongue cancer which is at the base of the tongue( can not be seen without bent reflects or a remit) radioactivity is no other course of action.
Tongue cancer is a extremely invasive cancer. It exhausts the muscle and tissue. It doesn’t merely flourish on top of the material it expends the material. It is announced squamous cell carcinoma.
Here is a description of squamous cadre from http :// www.medterms.com;
Definition of Squamous cells
Squamous cells: Flat cadres that look like fish flakes. The command “squamous” came from the Latin squama meaning” the scale of a fish or serpent .”
We have a lot of squamous cells. They make up the majority of members of the cadres in the outer stratum of the surface( the epidermis ), the passages of the respiratory and digestive parcels, and the liners of the hollow organs of their own bodies. We are more fish- like( or serpent-like) than we may think.( end)
Because of its invasive mood tongue cancer ingests important muscle mass at the back of the tongue. Through radiation therapy this is gonna be killing the tissue that is infected with the carcinoma, thus killing half of the muscles on the back of my tongue.
The doctors tell me that after 6-8 months I should be able to swallow extremely soft meat and liquid.
But as for chewing until then, in a few days from now I am coming a feeding tube inserted into my tummy. I will be chewing adult formula through a tube for the next 6 months.
The radiation will be killing my thyroid gland, I will have to take medicine every day for it for the rest of my life.
The radiation exposure while killing the bad materials will also be killing a lot of good tissues.
The process will be similar to a second degree sunburn every morning 5 days a few weeks for 7 weeks.
My cancer physicians tell me that I will release all the skin on the outside of my cervix where the radiation beams are centred often like a sunlight scorch that will swell up every day with each new treatment.
Therefore justification a large fresh meat range on my neck that I will have to keep a ponderous seam of cream on.
At some point in the next couple weeks I will be get a subcutaneous embed for a morphine drip.
The tissues inside the throat area and back of the tongue is likely to be fresh equivalent to that given to countless sunlight feelings as well.
They said some people have to have a tracheotomy because their throat material swells to the stage where they are unable no longer breather properly.
This all sounds gruesome and I am sure that it will be extremely distressing and closer to intolerable.
However the alternative is no management which will guarantee extinction within 6-10 months.
So I remember I can take the agony, my doctors predicted they would continue me “snowed” for as long as needed so that I can end this medication.( my posts may get slurred !)
As this tongue cancer process develops I shall be affixing almost daily with my progress, expects, perceives and medical evaluations.
I am not doing this blog for your pity.
I am documenting this terrible wander so that maybe some of the readers will come to this understanding……I inhaled cigarettes for 25 years, I ruminated a little tobacco, I drank my fair share of booze, all of these are directly related to mouth cancer, tongue cancer, oral cancer,
esophageal cancer and thyroid cancer.
Maybe, just perhaps, a few people will read and follow together with me on this travel and quit smoking, chewing, sucking overly and cleaning process “peoples lives” so they will not have to
go through this.
The journey embarks ………..
