The Best of the Week Ending 30 July 2011
I used to dread the summer! There would be nothing but re-runs on TV, it was hot outside and I had to always go to summer school. Now that I am an adult, summer still sometimes feels like it did when I was a kid – but now and again, there are some bright spots. This week had some bright spots.
Best TV: Welcome back Project Runway! Tim, Heidi, Nina and Michael have returned for Season 9 of the fashion show. I was nervous when the show moved from Bravo to Lifetime a couple of seasons ago. It appeared that the show-runners were doing too much and straying away from what made the show so wonderful. I mean, it is nice to know a bit about the models, but they did not need their own show. This season started with a bang! 4 designers were eliminated before they were even allowed to participate in a single challenge! Bring it on – this cast looks like they will be fun.

Best Movie: Crazy, Stupid, Love. It is so great to see a wonderfully crafted romantic comedy. Not only was this is a funny film (Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are pretty great) but the poignancy of a marriage unraveling at the seams – is compelling. Steve Carell gets the win Deejah over award! I am here to tell you – he is not a favorite of mine, but I was all in this time!
Best Book: Ugh, I did not read a thing this week! I suck…
Best Music: Two songs that are as far apart as possible are topping my playlist this week. I am in love with “Tonight Tonight” by Hot Chelle Rae. This is the perfect summer pop song! It makes me smile and dance in my seat whenever I hear it! My friend Claudia turned me on to another great song this week called “Almost Lover” by A Fine Frenzy. Both songs are available on iTunes!
