Tonight we will find out the decision regarding Ashley. Will she be able to prevail or will she have to withdraw like Alex? We’ll know soon enough!

The show opens with a Tyce Diorio Broadway routine (Charleston from Billion Dollar Baby) – it appears that both All-stars and dancetestants are performing in this piece. I thought that it was pretty quirky – but I am sure that my dear friend Claudia was underwhelmed. She is not a fan of Tyce’s Broadway choreography.

Back to talk about the Dance Day…I think we need to represent here at Pop Culture World News…hmm…

Eliminations

Lauren and Kent are up first – their performances were reviewed and they were both told that they are safe. They were individually quite good last night so that makes sense.

Special Guests #1 (there will be more and more filler on these elimination shows as the numbers dwindle)…Fernando Martin-Gullans and Lauren Vayser are from Mary Murphy’s Champion Ballroom Academy and they perform a Jive to Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock.” They were fun to watch…she pranced around like a little pony! The added arm wrestle at the end was silly – please just get on with it. BLARGH!

AdéChiké and Billy are up next – I think that Billy is going to be in the bottom – he was sort of bleh last night and AdéChiké really stepped it up to me. I know that the judges loved his performances, but I was less convinced. It looks as if America was as well.

Jose and Robert are in the final group – Jose, as cute as he is, should be in the bottom 3 and if Ashley weren’t injured and I was more sure of what might happen, I would say that Jose should go home. Robert had a nice evening and I think that he connected again with the viewing audience. Jose is in the bottom.

Special Guests #2 – Jamar Roberts and Rachael McLaren from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre performing a contemporary piece to Laurie Anderson’s ‘Gavity’s Angel.” When I was a young dancer, I always dreamed of dancing with the Alvin Ailey dance troupe. I was always so enthralled with seeing dancers on the stage that were black like me – it gave me some hope that I could do that. I never did get to dance with Alvin – but I had a great time dancing and I love it still to this day.

Special Guests #3 – Comfort and Twitch performing a Dave Scott routine (Forever – Chris Brown) – straight up hip hop!
I had almost forgotten that dance, but it put a big smile on my face re-watching it! They were two of my favorites dancers on the show.

Solos

Billy Bell – Contemporary (Stand By Me – Ben E. King) – he was Billy. Lovely lines, gorgeous leaps, smooth performance.

Jose Ruiz – B Boy (Chicken Bone Circuit – RJD2) – he kicked the solo’s but and the percussive beat to this song lent itself well to his performance.

Final “surprise” Special Guest. Christina Perri is here to perform “Jars of Hearts.” I have to say that I am one of the people that downloaded this song and helped to propel it up the charts. I really like the song. Allison and Neil danced beautifully.

Ashley is eliminated because she needs 3-5 weeks to heal so that she can be healthy for the tour. Nigel mentioned that dancers from Season 5 and 6 and some All-Stars, plus season 7 dancers will be featured on the tour. This peaks my interest and I am considering picking up a ticket.
