ABC and Media Rights Capital today announced the challengers who will take on Shaquille O’Neal in the second season of SHAQ VS, a reality competition series starring the NBA superstar. This season O’Neal will not only use his athletic prowess to challenge high-profile athletes, but also his energy and charisma to compete beyond the athletic arena in non-sports challenges. Season Two of SHAQ VS will debut TUESDAY, AUGUST 3 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Over the course of six episodes, O’Neal will race Dale Earnhardt Jr. at Concord Speedway; take on pop singing sensation Justin Bieber in Orlando; challenge daytime host and author Rachael Ray to a cook-off in the Big Apple; team up with NBA All-Star Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic, Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans and DeSean Jackson of the Philadelphia Eagles to outrun Tyson Gay in a 200-meter relay race; tee off with Charles Barkley on The St. Regis Monarch Beach golf links; attempt to defy illusionists and comedians Penn & Teller at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino; partake in a spelling bee against Scripps National Champion Kavya Shivashankar; box against Sugar Shane Mosley in an exhibition match at Caesars Palace in Vegas; challenge Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Champion Joey Chestnut outside Serendipity 3 in Las Vegas, and more.

“I’m out to prove that I can compete beyond athletics,” said O’Neal. “I’ve spent all year sharpening my skills and I want to win. There’s no challenge bigger than me.”

The series closely follows Shaq and his adversaries throughout the rigorous training process and the pre-game hype leading up to every challenge. Each week Shaq will compete in an athletic challenge or a non-sports competition, with some episodes featuring Shaq taking on two challengers. To level the playing field, O’Neal will negotiate a handicap with his opponent and train with a coach prior to the challenge.

In the first season, O’Neal competed against World Champion Michael Phelps in swimming; Super Bowl-winning Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in football; championship fighter Oscar de la Hoya in boxing; two-time National League MVP and St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols in baseball; and two-time Olympic gold medalists Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor in beach volleyball, with the help of U.S. Open, Australian Open and Wimbledon champion Serena Williams.

American Idol 11 – The Final 3 Perform

This week the contestants will each sing 3 songs. One chosen by the judges, one they choose and one chosen by Jimmy Iovine. Joshua Ledet is up first with the judges choice I’d Rather Be Blind - Etta James. I love when Josh sings these torchy type of songs. He gets right in the pocket and makes it his own. I love that he reigns in the melodrama for the majority of the song, saving the whooping and hollering for the [...]

    American Idol 11 – Top Seven Perform…Again

After the debacle that was last week, all seven contestants are back to perform tonight. They will be singing 2 songs each. One song from “now” (2000 – 2012) and a soul standard from “then”. Appropriately, Ryan opens the show with a shout out to Dick Clark who passed away earlier today at the age of 82. Then he moves on to the performances…there will be 14 of them tonight (the most for an episode). Hollie Cavanagh (Rolling in the [...]

Bringing disco to the 21st century – if anyne can do it, it’s the producers of  Glee.  The kids apparently have no direction and with graduation just around the corner – that is apparently a problem. Open on Blaine, Mike Chang and Brittany perform “You Should Be Dancing” (Bee Gees) – they are going to try to bring “vintage” Nationals. Will is concerned that at three of his seniors (Finn, Santana and Mercedes) have no direction or vision for their [...]

American Idol 11 – Surprising Bottom Three

In the wackiest Bottom 3 since Season Three (when Jennifer Hudson was unceremoniously sent home), we found Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez and Elise Testone in the bottom spots! These three are arguably some of the best singers in this competition. Then – in an even crazier twist, Joshua and Elise are told they are safe – leaving Jessica Sanchez to sing for her life. “I’ve never seen this happen,” an irate Randy said of having two frontrunners – Jessica and [...]

    GLEEcap – Big Brother

After a fairly long hiatus that ended with a texting nightmare of a cliffhanger, Glee is finally back. In the first minutes of the episode we find out that Quinn has a compressed spine and has to be in a wheelchair. Apparently she is beginning to have feeling in her toes and feels as if she will be up and performing by Nationals. She and Artie perform I’m Still Standing (Elton John) and she puts on a overly brave face (it seems). [...]

American Idol 11 – And Then There Were Seven

I’m not sure who’s going home – but judging from the feedback from some of my Idol lovin friends, they don’t love DeAndre. These friends of mine tend to represent the tastes of America and I am hoping they are wrong – but, they could be right. As they head to the first break, they show a sneak peek of J Lo’s new video for Dance Again. It is pretty steamy and features an awful lot of camera time of her [...]
