Deejah’s Morning Mix for Tuesday, April 27, 2010
Looking for some new music to replace the same, tired old songs you listen to day in and day out? Each morning, Deejah Figueroa will post the first ten songs her iPod plays from her vast and eclectic music library!
- Run ®” Gnarls Barkley (2008) this was the first single from their sophomore album…it still makes me think about exercising – I don’t actually excercise, though!
- Love’s Holiday ®” Earth Wind and Fire (1977) more of the music from my childhood – my soundtrack
- Once ®” Once Soundtrack (2007) I saw this movie on one of the worst dates EVER! The music was phenomenal, so at least there was that.
- Superstar ®” Lauryn Hill (1998) from one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time
- Redemption Song ®” Bob Marley (1979) my dad was a big reggae fan and this was one of the first songs introduced to me…I was 8
- Hello ®” Eminem (2009) he had been off of the scene for a while working on his addictions, this is a blistering album and took me back to my love of hip hop
- Tha Crossroads ®” Bone Thugs ®˜N Harmony (1995) this group was produced by Eazy-E and when this single was released, Eazy had died. The video was really poignant.
- Come on Home ®” Franz Ferdinand (2004) my ex-husband introduced me to this band – I was a big fan immediately and this is a great track!
- All I Do Is Dream of You ®” Michael Buble (2009) what I love about this song, is that it is from my favorite musical “Singing In The Rain” – this is a very updated, but classically Buble-performed song
- Too Shy ®” Kajagoogoo (1983) effing awesome pop song, still resonates today
